about

Ninth movement, introducing fluorine. Fluorine has nine protons and electrons. If it only had one more, it would have a full outer shell, like the noble gas neon. For this reason, fluorine is the most reactive element. For this reason, the piece starts with an explosion. Once fluorine reacts, it can form stable compounds, such as the fluoride in your toothpaste, so there are moments of calm in the piece as well. There are nine beats here and there, but they are not the feature of this volatile piece, as fluorine is striving so hard to have ten!
