about

Sixth movement, introducing carbon. Carbon has six protons and electrons. Two are at a lower energy state than the other four, so the introductory notes are of two lower drum beats followed by four sharp rim hits. Carbon can make long neutral chains, sheets and is part of many molecules of life because of its ability to make four bonds and its light weight compared to other molecules that make four bonds higher up on the periodic table. Because it is so important for life, the second part of this movement is a tribute to the live giving debt we owe to carbon.
